How can u just use one controller when using digital tv?

i have a magnavox converter box, but the controller doesnt have any volume buttuns, and i have to use the tvs controller to adjust the volume, is there any way that i can program one of the 2 remotes to do everithing???How can u just use one controller when using digital tv?
Well being your convertor box remote has no volume buttons, I'm going to have to say you can't use that one to be a universal remote. As for the TV, you need to read the manual. See if the TV remote can act as a universal remote or not. The manual would say as it would list codes for other devices. If it doesn't make any mention of such, then no you can't program either remote.

In that case you would have to go out and buy a universal remote. The Logitech ones I think are the go to choices out there right now. There are some great ones out there where you can do really sophisticated programming and even store the finished file on your computer, so if the remote loses it ever, you can quickly restore it (instead of reprogramming it).How can u just use one controller when using digital tv?
You need to get a 3rd, learning universal remote.

The TV remote, if it is any sort of universal for non TV functions, will likely only have codes for popular brands and types of equipment at the time the TV/Remote was designed/coded, and likely not a learning remote. Being you have a TV that needs a converter box, that would be way before the converter boxes were designed.

Any universal on store shelves today likely will not even have converter box codes, since the boxes only appeared on the market around a year ago, and that is around the lead time for new remote models/databases to appear, you you should just get a learner and learn the box, and if need be, the TV remote.
